October in La Creuse: Magical!

30th October: the skies are bright blue, the days continue to be warm and and the sun shines giving a magical radiance to the early autumn colours.

It is the most beautiful time of the year here in La Creuse. Back in the UK it is, apparently, cold, grey and cheerless. No doubt there will soon be breezes here to shake the leaves off their branches but, for now, it continues to be a golden wonderland.

Being in a geographical basin, Aubusson is surrounded by forests and seems to have its own micro-climate. I went for a walk this afternoon with my friend, Barbara, and her dog, Zara, trying to capture some of the autumnal brilliance: my camera is ok but fails to show the true palette of flame reds, coppers, ambers and yellows: a delight for painters.

How fortunate I am to live in this truly enchanting land!
